Russian orthodox church in Meguro
It was opened last week and last sunday I went to its first sunday service which was also on a first day of orthodox church calendar – 14th of September. This church is under the supervision of Nikolai-do in Ochanomizu but it is a territory of Russian Federation and all the service is in Russian – done by Russian priest Nikolai and two Japanese priests who speaks perfect old Russian used in all the prayers and the Bible. I was really impressed when Japanese priest started to preach in beautiful, absolutely correct Russian.
The church itself is a bit far from the station – four bus stops away so I’m not sure if I’ll go there from now on. For my friend Zhenya it’s very far so I think we’ll still be going to our usual church which is in convinient distance for both of us. Whenever she can’t make it though, I’ll try to go to Meguro church because service is in Russian which I appreciate greatly.
