Spring fling with Comptoir Des Cotonniers
Today, I was invited to come see Yoshiko Kris-Webb – a charismatic Japanese model to present Comptoir des Cotonniers spring/summer collection. I saw it earlier this year in the show room and couldn’t wait for it to hit the stores. Most of it is already available and oh, so good. I couldn’t help but buy a beautiful French countryside-inspired top and a super cozy spring sweater. This brand just speaks to me, like it knows exactly what I want before I even want it. ^-^ Till today, I had no idea how much I needed a khaki-colored military style spring jacket and now it’s all I can think of.. ^-^
Yoshiko did an excellent job styling some of the Japanese customers as part of her presentation. She also gave useful tips on how to wear clothes so that it doesn’t wear you. I always wondered how to style maxi skirts with sweaters without looking like an old lady and now I think I got the idea. I am going to try a new thing once it becomes warmer.
Yoshiko also presented a mood board of her own personal stuff for inspiration. Travel is the theme for this spring/summer collection and so she brought things she collected over the years during her travels abroad. Olia and me fooled around with animal masks that she got for her lovely daughters and tried on one of her hairbands (stalker alert!!). ^-^
We were also fortunate enough to meet some members of the French retail and PR team. I love how they all wear the brand and speak so excitedly about it. I am always very inspired by people who love what they do. ^-^
I came to the event wearing my new Zadig et Voltaire dress and my friend Eri from PR team said that Zadig et Voltaire creative director Amelie Gillette was the principal designer of this collection for Comptoir des Cotonniers. It just all makes sense to me now. Theory, Zadig et Voltaire and Comptoir des Cotonniers are the three brands I am obsessed about and they are all connected with Theory and CdC being the same company and with ZeV and CdC sharing the same designer. ^-^
I am very excited about this spring/summer season. I happened to lose a lot of weight after pregnancy which triggered my decision to be more adventurous and step out of my comfort zone. I will go on and try wearing something else besides jeans, t-shirts and flip flops. ^-^
