Yasutoshi Ezumi 2014-2015 A/W runway show & backstage at Tokyo Fashion Week
Yesterday, I went to see another runway show, this time of a Japanese designer Yasutoshi Ezumi. The collection was called “designare” which is Latin for “mark out”, “plan”. It was inspired by Eames House – a famous landmark of mid-20th century modern architecture. The pristine geometric lines could be seen not only throughout the collection but in the design of the runway as well. The long cage-like corridor the models were walking was representing the steel frame of the Eames house.
The house was built completely out of prefabricated mass-produced parts and yet it was absolutely unique and out of the box (literally, hehe). Yasutoshi Ezumi was fascinated with the idea of deconstructing classical silhouettes and arranging them into something new, just like Eames did.
I was also invited to visit backstage theater and see the models being prepped for the show. The principal Maybelline makeup artist Mizu explained about his choices for the upcoming runway.
Natural look is very hot this season and so he focused on perfecting the skin and adding freshness and youth to it with a pop of color here and there. You can see on the photos below that only a thin line of either pink, blue or green is used for eyelids and nails. These understated accents definitely hit home with me. ^-^
Mizu prefers to use waterproof mascara for runway shows because it stays longer and keeps eyelashes up.. I generally try to avoid it as it is so hard to get off but maybe I should give it a try?..
I also really liked the hair and I am even thinking of cutting my bangs again.. ^-^
This is Mizu and Matsuyou – Japanese blogger I met the other day at the opening party.
Models turned out to be from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus so we enjoyed a little chat. ^-^
This is the designer, receiving a special prize for his contribution to fashion world. ^-^
While waiting for him to come out, I bumped into fabulous Misha Janette who looked absolutely stunning. Thanks to her I was snapped by a Fashion TV photographer. ^-^
